£25m investment tackling local NHS patient backlog

After just one year, the new surgical centre has ensured an extra 3,000 patients have been helped, including urology, breast and orthopaedic treatments.

The second phase of the multi-million-pound Cheshire and Merseyside Surgical Centre at Clatterbridge Hospital has now opened.

Extra 1,150 primary care staff in local NHS since 2019

Across Wirral. Cheshire and Merseyside, there are now 1,150 more staff working in primary care than there were in 2019, helping to provide 20% more appointments than before the COVID-19 pandemic - including the same or greater numbers of face-to-face appointments.
