This year, if you usually go to your polling station to vote in person, you'll also be asked for proof of ID - things like a photo bus pass, passport or driving licence. You can read more about that here or watch the video above. If you need help contact Wirral's Elections Team - call 0151 691 8046 or email electoral@wirral.gov.uk
The next election on 4 May 2023 is for the election of local councillors. All 66 council seats in Wirral will be up for election - three council seats in each of the 22 wards. That means you will be voting for three people on the ballot paper - the three people you want to represent your community for the next four years.
Locally, the six wards in this constituency are:
- Leasowe & Moreton East: two Labour councillors and Karl Greaney (Independent)
- Liscard: three Labour councillors, including the leader of the council
- Moreton West & Saughall Massie: Colin Baldwin, Gary Bennett and Vida Wilson
- New Brighton: three Labour councillors
- Seacombe: three Labour councillors
- Wallasey: Steve Hoey, Ian Lewis and Lesley Rennie
At every election, there are people who forget to vote or who turn up but have failed to register to vote in time. Here in Wallasey and Moreton, every vote counts.
- Registering to vote has never been easier. Click here and answer a few questions online - it takes around five minutes.
- Voting by post is a great way to make sure you never miss an election because of work, holidays, family commitments or even just because of the weather on the day. Click here to apply for a postal vote.
- Appointing a proxy is another way to make sure your vote counts. Instead of you filling in a ballot paper, you appoint someone to vote on your behalf. Click here for a form to register someone as your proxy (you'll need their permission first).
