Your vote matters
- At the last council elections in Wallasey Ward, Reform came last with just 89 votes.
- At the last council elections in Moreton West & Saughall Massie, Reform won just 123 votes – barely 1%.
Those results, and the latest opinion polls, prove that only the local Conservatives can beat Labour and the left-wing Greens in this area.
No show on Council Tax vote
In March, councillors met to set the legally-required budget. At that meeting, it was reported that Wirral Council had debts of almost £580 million.
Labour’s budget increased Council Tax by 2.99% with a further 2% solely for use to support those needing social care.
In a surprise move, none of Wirral’s Reform’s Councillors turned up.
This meant they did not propose an alternative budget which would cut Council Tax as Nigel Farage had previously promised.
Another no show: parking charges vote
Following our campaign in November, along with opposition from small businesses, Labour had a last-minute rethink on parking charges. They agreed to ‘pause’ the plan, ahead of a full review.
Once again, Reform Councillors didn’t turn up to vote.
Reform in power:
In last year’s council elections, Reform promised in election leaflets distributed across the country: ‘we fight for lower council tax’.
Yet, once elected every single Reform-led Council has INCREASED Council Tax. One of the biggest increases of any council in the country was Reform-led Worcestershire – up by 9%.
