Third time lucky for fixing floating bus stop flaw?

Harrison Drive floating bus stops

Contractors have been called out for a third time, after more flaws were found in the controversial floating bus stops installed at Harrison Drive.

Today's works will see tactile paving installed near the kerbs - to help those who are blind or partially sighted to be aware of their position as they wait for the bus, while avoiding cyclists.

Local Councillor Ian Lewis said: "I'm relieved that, eventually, the Town Hall spotted these design flaws and is putting them right. Blind and partially sighted people have raised concerns about the whole concept of floating bus stops.

"Missing out such a vital part of their design, and not spotting it had been missed, is a terrible failure and could have resulted in injury."

A request, using the Freedom of Information Act, has now been submitted to find out how much these works, including this third visit by contractors to Harrison Drive, are costing.
