THIRD consultation on new parking charges

Wirral Council has started it's third consultation in an attempt to extend parking charges to 22 more car parks in Wirral.

This followed the vote, called by Conservative Councillors to halt the scheme and, instead, introduce some free parking in order to support struggling shops and businesses.

Labour rejected that call, while making parking free during December but only in central Birkenhead.

Now, their plan will:

  • Retain charges in those where charges are already in place
  • Introduce new parking charges, standardised operational times and terms and conditions of use to 22 existing free to park off street parking places
  • Introduce an overnight parking fee at all charged for off street parking places

There will be no charge for disabled person vehicles displaying a blue badge.

A list of the sites is on the attached document below or via this link

How to have your say:

  • Submit your concerns and comments on the proposals by 6th of February 2026 to [email protected]
  • Or write to the Senior Network Operations Manager, Neighbourhood Services, PO Box 290, Brighton Street, Wallasey by 6th of February 2026 quoting the scheme reference number TO/25/28.
