The deteriorating condition of railings along New Brighton's popular promenade has led to calls for urgent action by Wirral Council.
Local resident and former councillor, Tony Pritchard, believes a full survey on the condition of the railings and repairs by the Town Hall is urgently needed.
Tony said: "The railings were installed around 20 years ago and very little seems to have been done to maintain them in the years that have followed.
"Many are rusting and crumbling and, in parts, some have fallen into the sea.
"We need to make sure repairs are carried out urgently to keep pedestrians, including young children who will often hold onto the railings to see the sea.
"As with so many council assets these days, things seem to be left until repairs and replacements are needed, costing many times what would have been needed had they been better looked after."
