Reporting back: Council's cash crisis

On Monday 14 January, an extraordinary Council meeting was held, at the request of the auditors, following warnings of 'bankruptcy'.

In this video, the leader of the Conservative Group, Cllr. Jeff Green, reports back on the meeting, including:

  • Use of reserves by previous council leaders to 'prop up' day to day services
  • Big increases in the costs of socila care for children and adult
  • Increased costs due to Labour's increase in Employers' National Insurance Contributions
