There were then a series of votes on issues which four of the five political groups raised.
Councillors voted to make progress on the need to insulate homes and tackle mould and damp but, to ensure compliance with legal requirements, seek cash from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government. This was a Wirral Liberal Democrats proposal.
Council welcomed the new 'Crisis and Resilience Fund' worth £5.8m from the Government but noted this is the same amount received from the now scrapped Household Support Fund and Discretionary Housing Payments. This was a Wirral Labour motion.
Wirral Green Party of England and Wales put forward a call for the timings of all pedestrian crossings to be changed, meaning that pedestrians would have to wait a maximum of 30 seconds before they could cross. Many councillors slammed this is a unworkable - highlighting junctions such as Leasowe Road and Moreton Cross, where there would be gridlock.
Council voted unanimously to back the Royal British Legion call to strengthen the Armed Forces Covenant, following calls by Wirral's Conservative Councillors. Council will be contacting the Minister for Veterans Louise Sandher-Jones MP on behalf of the 13,000 veterans in Wirral. Thanks to The Royal British Legion, Wallasey Branch. for adding their support to this as well.
Councillors from Reform UK did not raise any issues for votes or support.
