Between 1997 and 2010, 7,166 local Post Offices closed under the Governments of Tony Blair and Gordon Brown.
In 2010, the new Government put in place extra protections to maintain the remaining Post Office network. And, between 2022-24 the number actually increased - with 390 new post offices opening.
Sadly, now that Labour is back in Government, closures have started again - with 187 going so far this year.
Councillor Lesley Rennie said: "We know from residents in Wallasey how Post Office closures make life just that bit more difficult and, for those who are not online, the impact is even greater.
"Labour's recent consultation, if it's anything like their previous consultations, could be the first step to even more closures within the remaining network."
