Say 'no' to parking charges

Have you heard the Town Hall wants to bring in parking charges at Garden Lane, Pasture Road and Holt Avenue?

They tried a few years ago but, after a backlash from residents and businesses, the Council was forced to scrap the plan.

The Town Hall was also found to be acting illegally as they didn’t have an agreed ‘parking Strategy’. Well, they now have a strategy.

Across Wirral, there are 25 sites where parking has always been free but which the Town Hall now wants to charge for.

We know from Liscard and Birkenhead what happens when car parking charges are introduced:

  • Some customers go elsewhere – forcing shops to close – while helping the profits of the big stores offering free parking.
  • Some customers try to park in nearby roads to avoid the charges, causing parking issues and affecting road safety.

Local councillors Colin Baldwin, Gary Bennett and Vida Wilson are opposed to parking charges in Moreton and will work with residents and businesses to fight the plan.

Three ways to have your say:
