Debbie Caplin launches petition for action on dog fouling around Sandbrook Primary School

Debbie Caplin

Since the last elections, I have been calling door to door to listen to the concerns of people who live here in Moreton. Many residents also took part in my recent postal survey. Thank you to everyone who has, so far, told me their views.

TOP ISSUE: DOG FOULING:

The Number One issue raised by residents in the Sandbrook area of Moreton (including my mum!) is the problem caused by dog fouling. Parents told me how the pavements near Sandbrook Primary School are often fouled, meaning they have to keep an extra close eye that young children don’t walk in it. Other residents have told me that roads elsewhere also suffer from the minority of owners who don’t pick up after their pets.

A DOG BAN FOR A FEW AREAS BUT NO ACTION ANYWHERE ELSE:

Sadly, the Town Hall’s answer is to ban dogs from some open spaces and parks while doing nothing to deal with the problems near Sandbrook Primary or the roads near you. Instead, Labour Councillors want to give more powers to Kingdom Security to issue penalties to dog owners, even those who pick up after their pets.

A BETTER PLAN TO DEAL WITH DOG FOULING:

Instead of Labour’s Dog Ban and heavy-handed action by Kingdom in some areas, I believe all parts of our community need to see action that tackles the minority of owners who don’t pick up, while not harassing those responsible owners who do.

If you agree, please sign my petition calling for action to tackle dog fouling near Sandbrook Primary School and in the roads in your neighbourhood:

Like most of the citizens of Moreton and Saughall Massie we listened with sadness and respect to the news that HRH Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh recently passed away.
