Over the last few years, we have seen an increase in the number of illegal encampments on The Dips - often cars and caravans arriving late on a Friday and staying until a Court Order can be obtained to have them removed. In the last three years, Wirral Council has spent more than £4,000 in legal costs alone.
Local Councillors Ian Lewis, Lesley Rennie and Paul Hayes are now asking the council to look at physical measures that could prevent unauthorised vehicle access, but without spoiling this local beauty spot.
We recently met with Council managers at The Dips and they have now submitted a proposal to the Finance Director. If agreed, we will then consult local residents for their views on it.
