Action on local issues:
- Wallasey Village Station: we finally had confirmation that the station would be included in the plans to make more stations 'step free'. We have contacted the City Region Authority for confirmation of a date.
- Harrison Park: working with the Friends Group, we have secured £30,000 for improvements to the play area. We are hopeful that 2026 will, finally, see the long awaited cafe and toilets opened too.
- Leasowe Road derelict site: with the help of the then-Director of Regeneration, Marcus Shaw, part of the site was put up for auction for development. An EV charging depot has been installed on the rest of the site.
- Grove Road Station: we met with privately-owned Merseyrail to secure some 'quick fixes' to the poor state of the footbridge. Dame Angela Eagle MP is now assisting us to put pressure on state-owned Network Rail to do the major works needed.
- Cycle lanes: we continued to expose the fallacy of the schemes - including the negligible use of existing lanes at Harrison Drive; the rising costs and the opposition of most residents and businesses. We have submitted regular requests for updates using the Freedom of Information Act.
- Banking hub: we tried in 2023 but our bid was rejected. In the aftermath of the closure of the Post Office, we tried again. Again, rejected. We met with Barclays this year to progress a third and, we hope, and final bid to bring banking services back to Wallasey.
- Cross Lane junction: this was one of the top issues raised in our recent survey. We are pushing for the Council to improve the junction to make it safe for pedestrians and road users.
- Wallacre Park: as with Harrison Park, money will be spent to improve the play area. We're asking for ideas and suggestions for the works. Tell us here.

Action in the Town Hall:
In January, we worked with residents to oppose plans for 28 more cycle lanes. We spoke at a council committee meeting, with 100 residents attending. We secured a delay to any lanes being introduced in Wallasey but have yet to have the plans scrapped altogether.
In March, we demanded Labour's decision to downgrade dementia in the NHS be reversed.
In May, we revealed how the Government's campaign on Pension Credit had flopped, following Labour's decision to scrap Winter Fuel Payments.
In September, we secured all-party support to scrap plans to close more libraries. It was also confirmed that money would, at last, be spent on the newly Grade II Listed Wallasey Central Library, thanks to pressure from the Friends group.
In October, Councillor Ian Lewis attended a meeting of the Council's Planning Committee and spoke in favour of the £57m rebuild of Mosslands School.
In November, the 'review' of regeneration projects was finally published. It revealed many of the problems started before 2022. We had to use the Freedom of Information Act to learn this review would cost up to £95,000
In December, we again asked for plans for more parking charges to be dropped. Labour confirmed their 'anti business' agenda by refusing to budge, while scrapping charges for Birkenhead in December.
