Conservative share of the vote increases
Conservatives lost seats in Liscard, New Brighton and Leasowe in Thursday's Council elections but increased their majorities in Moreton West & Saughall Massie, where Chris Blakeley was re-elected and in Wallasey Ward, where Leah Fraser was elected.
Across the Wallasey constituency, the Conservatives won 40.5% of the vote (an increase of 9.1% on the General Election) while Labour secured 47.5% (down 4.3%).
Councillor Lesley Rennie, Chairman of the local Conservatives, said: "We would like to thank everyone who voted for our local candidates, in all six wards, on Thursday. Clearly, these elections were always going to be difficult for us, as the Conservative-led Government takes the difficult decisions to cut the debt.
"I would also like to thank our outgoing councillors, Ian Lewis, Sue Taylor and James Keeley, for their work in their communities over the last four years."
