Current campaigns

On the local issues that matter most, the local Conservatives are developing the best solutions.

Recycling: we want residents to be given a choice of how they can help to reduce the household waste that goes to landfill sites.  We have also been successful in pushing for a new company to take over waste collection and to include recycling in their contract.

Anti social behaviour: we support the work of Wirral's Anti Social Behaviour Team and that's why, unlike Labour, we want the team to be fully funded.  There are 700 cases of anti social behaviour still to be tackled because the team is short of staff.

More involvement in local decisions: we believe that the best decisions are those taken when everyone who wannts to, has had their chance to take part in the decision making.  Too often, decisions affecting important local services are taken by Government ministers or unelected QUANGOs.

Fairer spending, fairer taxes: for far too long under this council, Wallasey and Moreton have lost out to Birkenhead.  Millions of pounds has improved Birkenhead.  Meanwhile, our community misses out on new investment.

Mobile phone masts: Conservatives are campaigning for a ban on the 'special arrangements' made for mobile phone companies in planning law.  We believe all mobile phone masts should be subject to full scrutiny and local planning processes.
